Happy Foodie Friday! Cheers to the weekend after a short week (for some of us). What do you have planned this weekend? We’re not quite sure what we will be exploring, but it will probably involve dining and the outdoors as we continue to soak up the perfect Miami winter weather. We hope you have an amazing weekend, and we leave you with a few fun foodie links from around the web (including Eater’s Miami Heat Map of the hottest places to check out these days)!

Hey, foodie fam! As alluded to in my Forte dei Marmi review a couple of weeks ago, I’ve had an overhaul in my dietary lifestyle… After mistakenly watching a Netflix documentary about food, I did the unthinkable and became vegan. This coming from someone who had never been on a diet to going cold turkey and cutting out all animal products from one day to the next. However, life is all about balance, so cheat meals are just plain necessary and what better way to reward yourself for months of successfully sticking to a restrictive diet than with authentic, homemade pizza? Why pizza, you ask? Well, I believe in a past life I must have been Italian because the love I have for pizza, pasta, and wine is just not normal. The answer for any of the aforementioned items will ALWAYS be yes – vegan diet or not. Needless to say, I was over the moon when I found out that one of the new restaurants at CityPlace Doral was Angelo Elia Pizza (3535 NW 83rd Ave, Suite 133, Doral.) Even from just the entrance where an enormous wine vault affectionately greets you, I could tell this place had the potential to become a routine go-to option.

Graziano’s has long been recognized locally as the “gold standard” for Argentine steak and cuisine. With several locations in Miami including Bird Road, Brickell, Coral Gables, and Hialeah, this is the steakhouse that consistently delivers top-notch quality food and has been a staple in our community for quite some time. I hadn’t visited in a while so when we got an invite to check our their Coral Gables location (394 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables), Mitch and I jumped at the opportunity to revel in a good steak meal.

Every now and then we get invited to foodie events that are amazing reminders of why we love our Miami foodie community. Uvaggio’s Somm Slamm was exactly that; a one-of-a-kind experience dreamt up by the wine bar’s co-founders Heath Porter and Craig DeWald that offers guests a fun-filled night of gourmet foods, gracious company and unique wines.

There’s a common misconception that to take full advantage of the Miami Spiceculinary program the experience should be over the top, lavish, and slightly outside your comfort zone. However, I’m here to share an experience that was quite the opposite. You might already be fully aware that both Mitch and I are slightly biased to a small, understated, and slightly under-explored wine bar on 8th Street called Lekoké. We could write a four-page love letter to this quaint wine bar, with a collection of quirky, antique household items and a floor-to-ceiling collection of booze, but it’s the food, and, specifically, it’s Miami Spice-inspired menu that recently gave me a new reason to brag some more about this small gem.
Happy Friday, foodie friends! Did you enjoy our Instagram takeover last night with Chef Spike Mendelsohn at Iron Fork Miami? Huge kudos to Chef Spike for being such an awesome foodie and joining forces with us for all the behind-the-scenes footage. Now that Iron Fork is under our belt, you know what that means? Miami Spice officially kicks off this Sunday and we can’t wait to start sharing all the delicious foodie spots that we’re totally digging this year. We hope to have new places to share and old favorites to tell you about again. We will officially be bringing back our #MiamiSpiceMonday series where, every week for the next two months, we highlight one of our favorite spots, so be on the lookout this upcoming Monday. In the meantime, we leave you with our fun Foodie Friday link pack. Enjoy!
This post is the first of its kind at MMTM headquarters. We want to venture outside our comfort zone of restaurant reviews and attempt a home cooked meal and the importance of the right wine to accompany said meal. Remember that time we introduced you to Tatiana Nessier, brand ambassador for Alamos Wines? We were smitten with Tatiana and intrigued by the Alamos wine portfolio, so a few weeks ago, I decided to have Mitch over for a quaint BBQ at my house while my Chilean husband grilled away to pair a perfect meal. My job was infinitely easier: ensure that all guests had their glasses fully quipped with Alamos Malbec, and make a decent attempt at playing the hostess with the mostess.
Tatiana Nessier, Brand Ambassador & Sommelier, Alamos Wines
Tatiana Nessier was born in Northern Argentina’s remote and breathtaking Salta region, well known for its concentrated wines and rugged landscape. Partway through her university studies is when her passion for wine took root, and what began as a casual interest in the topic soon blossomed into an all-consuming course of study. Tatiana stepped away from her formal university coursework for two years to dedicate herself to sommelier studies at the Escuela Argentina de Sommeliers, where she learned the science of deductive tasting and mastered subject matter covering global wine regions, varieties, classic producers and trends. In 2012 she began working with the wines of Catena in Mendoza, hosting trade guests at the winery, and today represents Alamos wines at home and internationally.
After living and traveling in many places, Tatiana finds her current home in Mendoza—overlooking the spectacular Cordón del Plata with the Uco Valley just beyond—the perfect place. She enjoys gathering there with friends for asado, traditional Argentine BBQ, with which she frequently pairs Alamos Special Selection Malbec. When cooking, another favorite pastime, Tatiana likes making empanadas salteña, a classic dish hailing from her homeland which finds a terrific accompaniment in the crisp, refreshing character of Alamos Torrontés.
Hey foodies! It’s officially Valentine’s Day weekend and Sunday is the big day! For us, that basically means another excuse to stack up on sweets and make dinner reservations. Although truth be told, we tend to hibernate on Valentine’s Day since we’re not into the crowds or pre-fix menus. However, to make things sweeter for you, we’ve gathered some Valentine’s Day inspired foodie links to share with your sweetheart. We wish you a weekend full of love, cocktails, and of course food! Enjoy!
