While many restaurants boast a Mediterranean title, most usually focus on one specific area such as Greece, Spain or Italy. Panarea Mediterranean Sea Grill (11052 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami Shores) – named after the second smallest island of the Aeolian chain of volcanic islands in Italy and considered the heart of the Mediterranean – is bucking that trend by offering patrons a true representation of Mediterranean cuisine with dishes from southern Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel and northern Africa.
The mecca of all foodie festivities in Miami has arrived. The South Beach Wine and Food Festival is officially in town. That means that all foodies are jumping off the walls with a slew of agenda items to cross off before the weekend wraps up. From private parties, to chef roundtables to the more important events like endless amounts of wine and food tasting, this is the weekend where we unapologetically gain 5 lbs in 3 days. Inspired by what’s to come, we’ve rounded up a few SOBEWFF links and others that are just as enticing from around the web. Also, be on the lookout for a full review of the activities we’ll be attending this weekend to give you ideas for next year (it’s never too early to plan a food itinerary.) Enjoy our Foodie Friday link pack!
When we interviewed Nicole Votano for our Chef’s Corner back in March, she described the soon-to-open Fooq’s menu as “seasonal, comforting, and memorable.” Well, now that Fooq’s has opened (to rave reviews, btw), I’m here to tell you that she could not have been more spot on. However, it’s not just Fooq’s’ menu that shines, the whole dining experience can be summed up with those simple, yet important adjectives. In fact, I’m going to use them as a guide for this review.
