Miami Spice Monday – Villa Azur

By Mitchell Nover

One of the (many) reasons I love the Miami Spice program is that it gives Miami foodies permission to step out of their comfort zones and experience restaurants that they might not visit on a regular basis. Once you break down the wall of price obstacles, suddenly other taboos fall by the wayside as well. Such is the case with my recent trip to Villa Azur (309 23rd St, Miami Beach). The chic French-Mediterranean restaurant and lounge is a place where people go to see and be seen, and that, in general, is not my regular scene. However, emboldened by my new Spice season sensibilities, I decided to give Villa Azur a shot, even if only for the people-watching.

Dashi at River Yacht Club Dazzles with Delight

By Caitlin Marino

There’s something exquisite about the simplicity of Japanese cuisine.  Maybe I say that because layers of excessive toppings or sauces aren’t needed to create refreshing, soul-filling food? Less is more when it comes to this cuisine. Thankfully for Miamians, we have Dashi (401 SW 3rd Ave, Miami) to shine in on our city’s ever-growing culinary playing field. Tucked away inside River Yacht Club, the 80-seat restaurant offers spectacular river views and dishes so impeccably presented you’d think it was art.

MMTM’s Best of 2016!

We’re officially in to Week 2 of 2017, but we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to 2016 just yet and are taking one final chance to reminisce about our “Year in Food” in 2016. In looking back at some of our best bites (and sips) across Miami this past year we’re adding in a few more opinions this time around, with some favorites from our new contributing writers as well. 2016 was a great year of growth for us here at MMTM Headquarters and we couldn’t have done it without them. We’re excited to let you get to know them even better in the year to come. And, of course, we couldn’t do any of this without you… Thanks, as always, for following along on our foodie adventures.

River Yacht Club is Reviving the Miami River

By Sophia Costabal

Muy caliente. Two words that accurately describe Miami during the summer. These same two words can be adjectives used to describe the new summer menu created by Chef Alex Chang, the latest to helm the kitchen as part of the in-residence rotating chef program at The River Yacht Club (RYC). And, what is the best way to ward off the Miami heat? My answer is simple: fresh seafood fare with a Latin kick! And this is all representative in Chef Chang’s menu.
