Miami Spice Monday: BLT Prime

By Mitchell Nover

What’s in a name? Unfortunately for BLT Prime (4400 NW 87th Ave, Doral) it means an affiliation with a certain President of the United States thanks to its location inside the &@%!# National Doral Miami hotel. Despite the name on the outside of the building, however, nothing comes between me and a good meal. So based on Mel’s recommendation from last year, I ventured into enemy territory to give it a try.

Kiko Suarez —
Host, Que Riko con Kiko

Roberto “Kiko” Suarez is the host of Que Riko con Kiko, an in-depth look of delicious food to enjoy. The segment airs every Friday on Telemundo 51’s 5AM, 6AM, and 11PM hours, as well as on NBC 6 every Tuesday  at 11:30AM. A larger-than-life Cuban teddy bear, Kiko brings everything “riko” (i.e. good, delicious, and fun) to your TV, featuring hot restaurants, menu items, chef interviews, and pure awesomeness. He also also produces the Emmy-nominated A la Carta with Mariana Rodriguez, which highlights some of the best restaurants and cuisine in South Florida.

In celebration of National Burger Month this month, Kiko has always partnered up with the folks at Pinch Kitchen to develop his own burger collab. Kiko’s burger will be available all week this week (through Sunday) for lunch and brunch alongside the classic Pinch Burger.

#MiamiSpiceMonday – RED, The Steakhouse

By Mitchell Nover

RED, The Steakhouse and I have very different interpretations of what Miami Spice should be. For me, Miami Spice is all about the simplicity of a $39 fixed price menu, featuring 3 options for 3 courses, allowing restaurants to show off their best to diners who may not normally be able to frequent them. RED, on the other hand, throws it all out there, with their rotating menu themes, multiple course options, and add-ons and upgrades galore. It’s a difference in ideology that is worlds apart, but that’s also what’s great about Miami Spice (and dining opinions, in general); at the end of the day, it’s all about the food. And, since I’m never one to pass up a good meal, I gladly accepted an invite to check out RED’s huge variety of Miami Spice menu options.

Miami Spice Halftime Report

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…! Wait, maybe that’s Christmas. Anyway, although the song may be referring to something else, for us Miami foodies, Miami Spice is most definitely one of the most anticipated occurrences on our calendars. It’s a magical time when Miami’s best restaurants offer up mouth-watering promotions consisting of three-course meals at reduced prices ($23 for lunch; $39 for dinner) that showcase the very best of Miami cuisine.
