We’re officially in to Week 2 of 2017, but we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to 2016 just yet and are taking one final chance to reminisce about our “Year in Food” in 2016. In looking back at some of our best bites (and sips) across Miami this past year we’re adding in a few more opinions this time around, with some favorites from our new contributing writers as well. 2016 was a great year of growth for us here at MMTM Headquarters and we couldn’t have done it without them. We’re excited to let you get to know them even better in the year to come. And, of course, we couldn’t do any of this without you… Thanks, as always, for following along on our foodie adventures.
At the beginning of the year, we set out on a mission to introduce you to some of the food bloggers/writers/lovers that we’ve been lucky enough to meet at different restaurant tastings and food-related events around town. After months of bringing you insights into the origins of their foodie favorites and fanaticism, we realized that we haven’t really given you the opportunity to get to know us like you’ve gotten to know them. So, for our final #foodiefriends post of the year, we bring you Mitch & Mel: #BFFs (Best Foodie Friends).
The South Beach Seafood Festival is back on October 24th! The festival, which celebrates South Florida’s best seafood creations, also serves as the unofficial kick-off to Miami’s globally-recognized annual Stone Crab season. On October 24th, thousands will flock to 7th & Ocean Drive on Miami Beach to experience the seasonal selections of Miami’s top chefs and restaurants during the all-day festival. The South Beach Seafood Festival also features live music, culinary and mixology demonstrations, a kids zone, health village, and VIP hospitality benefits.
Forgive us for waiting until Wednesday to post our recap, but it took a few days to digest all that took place during this year’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival – literally and figuratively!
SOBEWFF weekend can be a foodie’s dream, but it is also a tough nut to crack. Strategy is key; make use of your personal connections, find free events, take advantage of online discounts and deals, and pick one or two big ticket items to splurge on. #somuchtoeatsolittletime
This past Friday, a gaggle of our friends, family, and followers joined us to celebrate our one year blogiversary. It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year already, and what a delicious year it’s been! We can’t thank you enough for all the support you’ve shown us over the past year as Mitch and Mel Takes Miami morphed from a speck of an idea in our brains into the creative outlet and true labor of love that it has become.
The holidays are now fully upon us and we can’t get enough! We love the lights, the cheesy Christmas music, and the contagious jolliness that seems to spread with ease during this season. The cool air and perfect breezy nights help as well. During this time, we can’t help but indulge in comfort food and try do our best to use some sort of restraint. Cocktails and holiday parties are taking full swing and we seem to see less and less of the gym, but we’re unapologetic about it. Tis’ the damn season. We hope you too get some time to unwind and consume the holiday season in its entirety. We leave you with some fun foodie links from around the web. Enjoy!
Did you know that August this year had five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays? The next time that the 2014 calendar repeats itself is in the year 2025, so we’re going to play freaky superstitions around here today and assume you’ll be doing something extraordinary to celebrate an event that won’t happen for another 11 years. We’ll even play devil’s advocate and say you should leave your diet behind and celebrate the last hurrah of summer with all sorts of guilty indulgences. Why not? But before you go all foodie frantic on us, enjoy our round up of fun links to kick-start the weekend.
Happy Friday MMTM readers! We’re so excited for the weekend, especially since this was quite the week for us all in Miami with school kicking back into full gear. Parents rejoiced, kids mourned and life for those of us that kept working all summer long basically got a little more hectic with the insurmountable amounts of back-to-school traffic. We know it will take a few weeks to get back into full school gear, but in the meantime, we leave you with a fun foodie links to spruce up the weekend! Enjoy!
We’re officially now midway through August and, guess what? We made it through another week. Fridays really are the best. Do you guys have any fun foodie plans this weekend? We’re hoping to catch the new foodie film, The Hundred Foot Journey because let’s face it: Spielberg, Oprah and food make for a damn good combo. Helen Mirren doesn’t hurt either. We confess, we rarely make it to the movies these days, but we know summers are the home of blockbuster films. Any cool movies you’ve seen? Perhaps this weekend should be dedicated to dinner and a movie. If you decide to take us up on the recommendation, let us know how it goes, but first enjoy our fun foodie link pack below!
Do you guys have any fun plans this weekend? We’re over here just trying to survive the summer heat. For some reason, August days seem to move like molasses and we can’t decide if we love or hate it. What subconsciously keeps us going is that September is around the corner and that translates into milder weather and a very close holiday season. So while we dream of cooler days, grab a cocktail (preferably a beer because it’s so damn hot) and enjoy our friday round up of cool foodie links! Enjoy!
