Miami Spice Monday: Lure Fishbar

Lure Fishbar (1601 Collins Ave, Miami Beach), located inside the Loews Hotel, is a classic South Beach seafood restaurant that has made a name for itself by serving approachable, quality food. While the dishes are normally not too inventive, the ingredients are procured from incredible sources, making for overall delectable dishes. I can say from personal experience that there are few restaurants in the area quite as consistent as this one, and it is one that I enjoy making a visit to on a consistent basis.

Foodie Friday – Local Edition

We finally made it to December and the holidays are upon us! It certainly is the most wonderful time of the year, especially for us foodies. The Thanksgiving appetizer is behind us and we’re ready to dig into the main course with Art Basel and Miami Art Week hitting their stride this weekend. And, we can’t forget the extreme amounts of lechón that will be entering our lives come Christmas and New Year’s (with a side of Hanukkah potato latkes for Mitch). Foodie Friday – Local Edition

Guys, it’s November! We can hardly believe that we’re fully in the throes of #HalloThanksMas, but such is life. This is a pretty intense month for us at MMTM Headquarters with Mel furiously prepping for The Latin GRAMMYs show in Las Vegas on November 17th and Mitch recovering from his brother’s wedding last weekend and heading out on the road for a few work trips as well. While we may not be around much, there’s actually so much taking place that we’ve separated out a special Thanksgiving round-up that we’ll have for you next Wednesday. Behind the Bar – Josue Gonzalez

Miami’s own Josue Gonzalez has been in the hospitality industry since starting his career as a barback at Zuma Miami back in 2010. Over the past four years he has worked his way up the ranks with varying tenures at some of Miami’s hottest bars, restaurants, and catering and event companies (Truluck’s, Toscana Divino, Bartenura Moscato, Shiraz Events, 50 Eggs, Ball & Chain) before landing at Lure Fishbar, where’s been for the past year-plus. Josue recently competed in the second Botran Rum Mixology Showdown alongside seven of Miami’s best mixologists and emerged victorious with his ‘Guatemalan Flip’ being named Miami’s best original rum cocktail. His prize? Besides bragging rights, Josue will receive an an all-expense-paid trip to the Botran distillery in Guatemala, home of the premium, award-winning rum for more than six decades.
