Sushi Kong (3000 Coral Way, Coral Gables) is not your average sushi restaurant, so traditionalists beware. Rather, the concept out of Venezuela is very much a Japanese-Latin fusion restaurant meant to move diners outside of their comfort zones. Combining an avant-garde, comic book style decor, a menu that actually gets more interesting outside of the sushi section, and #dessertporn that will leave you drooling, Sushi Kong delivers both a memorable and monstrous meal. Nobu Matsuhisa is an international, renowned name in the culinary world. We know Mr. Matsuhisa on a first-name basis, Nobu. Rappers throw his name around in verses and it feels like the entertainment elite has made his restaurant a staple when they’re in need of their sushi fix. I was lucky enough to visit the flagship Nobu when it was still in Tribeca, but most recently, we were invited to try the restaurant’s pre-fix lunch menu at the renovated Miami location inside the historic Eden Roc Hotel.
