R House is a Very, Very, Very Fine House

If you watched Bravo’s Best New Restaurant a few years back, you might be surprised to hear that R House (2727 NW 2nd Ave, Miami) is still open after its relatively disastrous appearance. However, instead of folding under the pressure of the poor reality show showing, the restaurant took the time to take stock, learn from its mistakes, and focus on getting better. And get better they did. With a new menu that is more focused and concise in its food and drink offering, R House has become a very, very, very fine house… (with drag queens in the yard*).

Taking the Via Emilia 9 Route

Via Emilia 9 Ristorante Italiano (1120 15th St, Miami Beach) is a charming Italian restaurant on South Beach that offers authentic regional cuisine – all ingredients are imported from Italy with the exception of fruits, vegetables, flour and eggs. This modern, yet rustic and charming place has received notoriety from some of our faves like Anthony Bourdain who said, “the pasta at Via Emilia is much, much better than good.” It’s that kind of testimony that goes a far way in our little foodie book and gets us excited about our growing foodie community in Miami.

Foodie Friday – Local Edition

We finally made it to December and the holidays are upon us! It certainly is the most wonderful time of the year, especially for us foodies. The Thanksgiving appetizer is behind us and we’re ready to dig into the main course with Art Basel and Miami Art Week hitting their stride this weekend. And, we can’t forget the extreme amounts of lechón that will be entering our lives come Christmas and New Year’s (with a side of Hanukkah potato latkes for Mitch). As if that wasn’t enough, there’s still plenty to see and do, eat and drink this December in the Magic City.  Below is our monthly round-up of what the month ahead has in store for us here in Miami.
