Point Royal Reigns in Hollywood

By Mitchell Nover

Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is a pretty regal man. Not only is he a Food Network noble, but everything about him just has an air of stateliness about it — from his style to his slow and steady speech cadence. Anyway, all of this is to say that there’s no surprise his new venture at the Diplomat Beach Resort, Point Royal (3555 S Ocean Dr, Hollywood), personifies that same majestic vibe, offering guests a classically elegant look and an elevated dining experience.

Shuck It On Down to Izzy’s Fish & Oyster

By Monique Gonzalez

If you’re a local, and reside on the mainland, chances are you may not frequent South Beach as often as you’d like. (Or, am I just an old lady who just doesn’t get out there as often as I should?) In any case, my latest #MMTM assignment forced me to cross the bridge and boy was it worth it…I fell in love. Her name’s Izzy. Izzy’s Fish & Oyster to be exact. A Fowl Feast in Wynwood

As we all know by now, Miami has been really coming into its own over the past few years, with a community that is coming together more and more over a collective love and desire for cultural and culinary creativity. On the food front we’ve seen a new crop of restaurants opening up, concepts are highlighting local ingredients and flavors, and our food festivals are focusing less on celebrity and more on local talent. Leading that charge for years now, has been Chef Jeremiah Bullfrog, chef/owner of gastroPod Miami and creator of the popular PIG (Pork is Good) events that for the past six years has brought together some of Miami’s most exciting chefs to showcase the power of the mighty pig. But now, he’s set his sights on a different protein: fowl. And, this past Saturday this group of hungry gourmands gathered together for a delicious game of Duck Duck Goose in Wynwood.

Izzy’s Brings a Taste of New England to South Beach

Toto, I don’t think we’re in South Beach anymore.

Forget Oz… Izzy’s Fish & Oyster is bringing a taste of New England cuisine to the Miami culinary scene, infusing its SoFi location with a Cape Cod feel. Izzy’s is the brainchild of Jamie DeRosa, one of our favorite Miami chefs and the mastermind behind the dearly-departed Tongue & Cheek (R.I.P.) For those who have visited New England, the concept of Izzy’s is meant to evoke memories of sunny days, balmy nights, sandy toes, and bellies filled with fresh seafood. For those who haven’t, it’s meant to be an introduction to the classic flavors of New England cuisine. Either way, the driving passion is to create a memorable local seafood and beverage dining experience, serving traditional New England fare in a cool, fresh and hip South Beach setting.
