Hi foodies, October is here! And what a relief it is to be done with September… This last month was a tough one, what with Hurricane Irma and its effects here in South Florida, in the Keys, and across the state. Not to mention the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, where many of our friends and family live, and the earthquake in Mexico, which also touched many of our loved ones. That said, we’re moving forward, onwards, and upwards, and there’s a lot to be thankful and look forward to. An extension of Miami Spice through the end of October, for one. There’s a lot going on this month in Miami, including a number of ways our foodie community is coming together to help those still in need. For all that and more, check out our monthly round-up of local foodie news below. Enjoy!

We’re back to regular programming here at MMTM headquarters and hope that you and your loved ones are all safe after Hurricane Irma.
Remember that time we told you all about Fooq’s (1035 N Miami Ave, Miami), the quaint and posh (yet unassuming) little spot in Downtown Miami, and their dinner and brunch offerings? Recently, I headed back to this little spot to check out their Miami Spice menu and I’m here to tell you, you’ll want to pay a visit before the end of the month too.
Foodies, we made it through February and survived another SOBEWFF (albeit with a few extra pounds on the scale). But, just because the King of Food Festivals is over, that doesn’t mean we can stay in our food coma for much longer. March is truly coming in like a lion with plenty of new openings, special offerings, and more foodie events hitting us hard all month long. From Cork & Fork to Cochon555 to Donuts! and much, much more, let’s keep our belts loose and enjoy another gluttonous month here in the Magic City – the beach bod can wait. Below is our local Foodie Friday round-up for your perusal. Enjoy!
February is our kind of month. By now, we’ve all moved past our “New Year, New You” resolutions (better luck next year!) and are back to full-blown gluttony. Here in Miami, February is especially gluttonous. After the traditional Super Bowl gorgefest and Valentine’s Day decadence, we’ve only got a couple of short weeks before the South Beach Wine & Food Festival rolls into town. And, in between all of that, we’ve got a whole bunch of new restaurants, menu offerings, and special events to indulge in. As per usual, we’ve rounded them up for you below. Enjoy!
Guys, it’s November! We can hardly believe that we’re fully in the throes of #HalloThanksMas, but such is life. This is a pretty intense month for us at MMTM Headquarters with Mel furiously prepping for The Latin GRAMMYs show in Las Vegas on November 17th and Mitch recovering from his brother’s wedding last weekend and heading out on the road for a few work trips as well. While we may not be around much, there’s actually so much taking place that we’ve separated out a special Thanksgiving round-up that we’ll have for you next Wednesday. In the meantime, here’s our round-up some of the best foodie events taking place this month. Enjoy!
Valentine’s Day is less than two weeks away. For those of you who don’t have plans yet, we’ve put together a list of picks of the best places to eat and get your romance on this year. Read on for a variety of specials, set-menus and other special treats that are sure to help you have a magically romantic evening in the Magic City.
I professed my love of Fooq’s dinner in our Best of 2015 round up and praised not only the food but also the cozy and cool ambience. I was pretty stoked when they announced that they would be serving brunch on Saturday’s under the helm of the restaurant’s new chef, Bryan Rojas.
During the holidays, Mitch and I took a weekend to catch up on the family madness going on in our lives and bond over the new brunch menu at Fooq’s to give us the strength needed to survive the holidays.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for our final blog post of the year. We’ve officially made it to the end of 2015 and what a year it’s been! In our second year of blogging we dined and drank our way across Miami, making lots of new #foodiefriends along the way. As excited as we are for what 2016 has in store for us, we thought we should take one final look back at the foodie year that was 2015. Enjoy!
When we interviewed Nicole Votano for our Chef’s Corner back in March, she described the soon-to-open Fooq’s menu as “seasonal, comforting, and memorable.” Well, now that Fooq’s has opened (to rave reviews, btw), I’m here to tell you that she could not have been more spot on. However, it’s not just Fooq’s’ menu that shines, the whole dining experience can be summed up with those simple, yet important adjectives. In fact, I’m going to use them as a guide for this review.
Nicole Votano, Executive Chef, Fooq’s
Chef Nicole Votano grew up in London, Italy, and France, and attended high school in San Francisco and Hawaii. Her lifetime of travels and global experiences have only found their way into her eclectic cooking styles, which specialize in French, Italian, and Asian flavors. Upon graduating from the French Culinary Institute in NYC, Chef Nicole moved back to San Francisco to work in the kitchens of Kimpton Group’s French brasserie Grand Café and Bradley Ogden’s restaurant One Market.
