The Arketekt Arrives in Brickell

By Melanie Galarce

The Arketekt By Aficionados (1200 Brickell Bay Dr, Suite 107, Miami) is a new restaurant in the middle of the hustle and bustle of brickell that feels like a vintage escape. The restaurant, which was was opened by the group behind the local favorite Aficionados Brickell Wine & Spirits, is self-described as “one who creates.” A simple concept that can be applied to all aspects of the restaurant, including its food and drink menu.

Bienvenue à Cafe Bastille!

By Melanie Galarce

We’ve been on a total French kick over at MMTM headquarters the last few weeks and we can’t help but feel nostalgic given the recent events in Nice. I still vouch that the best meal I’ve ever had in my life was in the South of France, so this place has a very special place in my heart. There’s something healing about food and its power to bring people together, so this week we once again pay homage to French cuisine. However, unlike the glitz and splendor of Bal Harbour and Le Zoo, today we highlight Café Bastille – a small, family owned spot that’s been around Downtown long before the high-rise buildings started to take over Miami’s skyline.

#MiamiSpiceMonday – Swine Southern Table & Bar

On this edition of #MiamiSpiceMonday, we conquer the South. Soulful Southern cuisine is synonymous with comfort and indulgence. Vivid images of fried chicken and mashed potatoes come to mind. I’ve always enjoyed the splurge of eating anything fried and not having to feel apologetic about it and as so, Southern food holds a special place in my heart. This Southern menu’s scene? Swine Southern Table & Bar, a self-proclaimed “house of worship to the porcine pursuit.” The simple and uncomplicated nature of Southern cuisine makes for a great gathering of friends and family over food; Swine offers just that. Providing a laid-back and soul-healing ambience in a two-floor space in Coral Gables that has traces of fancy lighting and décor but at its core remains comfy and cool.

T&C Taste Test: Dinner vs. Brunch

To dine or to brunch, that is the question… OK, so maybe it’s not the question (a la Hamlet), however often times when a new restaurant opens it can be hard to decide when to first go: for dinner or for brunch.

I recently experienced this very serious dilemma when Tongue & Cheek arrived on the South Beach scene earlier this year. So, of course, I did what any logical (?) person would do and visited on back-to-back days – Friday night for dinner and Saturday morning for brunch – thanks to two great Gilt City tasting menu deals.

Below are my thoughts as to which experience is more worth your while:
