R House is a Very, Very, Very Fine House

If you watched Bravo’s Best New Restaurant a few years back, you might be surprised to hear that R House (2727 NW 2nd Ave, Miami) is still open after its relatively disastrous appearance. However, instead of folding under the pressure of the poor reality show showing, the restaurant took the time to take stock, learn from its mistakes, and focus on getting better. And get better they did. With a new menu that is more focused and concise in its food and drink offering, R House has become a very, very, very fine house… (with drag queens in the yard*).

The Federal Freshens Up for Spring

It’s hard to believe that The Federal is already four years old! Like The Little Engine That Could, the MiMo strip mall restaurant has been plugging away with an undeniable “I think I can” attitude that comes from its two conductors – Chef Cesar Zapata and his wife and partner Aniece Meinhold. This culinary power couple has somehow found a way to remain true to their modern American tavern roots while reinventing themselves enough to remain interesting and relevant – think an appearance on Bravo’s Best New Restaurant, getting their famed Biskits into Williams-Sonoma, and relaunching their Phuc Yea food truck into an actual brick-and-mortar restaurant (coming soon). Well, The Federal’s latest reinvention comes in the form of their new, Spring menu that features a fresh selection of (mostly) veggie-centric dishes that are ripe for the season.
