MMTM’s Best of 2016!

We’re officially in to Week 2 of 2017, but we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to 2016 just yet and are taking one final chance to reminisce about our “Year in Food” in 2016. In looking back at some of our best bites (and sips) across Miami this past year we’re adding in a few more opinions this time around, with some favorites from our new contributing writers as well. 2016 was a great year of growth for us here at MMTM Headquarters and we couldn’t have done it without them. 1111 is a Peruvian Grand Slam

Upon arriving to 1111 Peruvian Bistro, I was delighted to find an elegant and sophisticated lounge with a friendly staff, which gave me the initial impression that there was a clear attempt to blend the relaxed environment of a casual tapas bar with the elegance of a high-end restaurant. I was welcomed, alongside many patrons who were also ending their workdays, with a similar need to relax and eat! The kitchen was fully visible and the intimacy of the restaurant was felt throughout. Once settled, it was time to recall what I knew of Peruvian cuisine, and learn more about 1111 which promised a novel twist on traditional dishes.

Estrella Damm Chef’s Choice 2016 – Brickell Edition

By now you’ve read all about Mel’s Chef’s Choice Tour of Midtown. If your mouth hasn’t stopped watering yet, you might want to get an extra napkin because now it’s my turn to tell you all about my deliciously divine tour of Brickell. So as not to be left behind, I set out to get a sneak peek of what Estrella Damm had in store for Miami’s famed business and downtown districts. With stops at Coya, Toro Toro, Tuyo, and 1111 Peruvian Bistro, it was a true tour de force of hops and rice (in case you didn’t know, this year’s Chef’s Choice theme is “rice” meaning each Chef’s Choice entrée is pairs the Mediterranean beer with everyone’s favorite grain).
