Congratulations foodies, just like that you’ve made it through another work week! Do you have anything fun planned this weekend? We continue to explore our city to offer you the best of restaurants and culinary experiences to enjoy this summer. Although it’s miserably hot these days, we’re trying to stay cool with cold drinks, lots of paletas, and the occasional frozen cocktail (or mocktail for Mel since she’s cooking a little foodie in her belly). We hope you’re doing the same! In the meantime, we leave you with a few fun foodie links from around the web. Enjoy!

Keep it simple, stupid. That might as well be the motto at Charcoal Garden Bar + Grill (2 NW 29th St, Miami) in Wynwood, except there’s nothing stupid about it. Simple, yes. But in a good way, in a creative way, in a way that lets the venue, food, and drink tell the story that you want to share with your guests. No frills, just quality and simplicity. What a concept.

Meraki Greek Bistro (142 SE 1st Avenue, Miami) is a newly-opened restaurant tucked away in the heart of Downtown Miami. This bistro transports you to Greece with its charming outdoor patio of Greek Island-inspired decor, blue and white pillows, and large rustic tables, as well as an impressive interior design that includes an array of Hellenic artwork and beautiful hanging basket lights.
Hey foodies! We’ve made it to mid-July. How exactly did that happen? Most South Floridians are just trying to stay cool in these miserably hot, humid days of summer, and we’re just trying to hide inside an air-conditioned restaurant and sip on some kind of frozen concoction. We hope your year thus far has been amazing and that the rest of summer is even better. Since this marks the official half way point of summer, can we start dreaming of fall and cooler days? We’ll continue to enjoy Miami’s heat and document some of our favorite restaurants in hopes that you can take some time off to check them out. In the meantime, we leave you with a few fun foodie links from around the web! Enjoy!

La Petite Maison (1300 Brickell Bay Dr, Miami) has brought a little bit of the panache of the French Riviera to Brickell. Originally hailing from Nice (with additional locations in London, Dubai, and Istanbul), La Petite Maison Miami is the first United States location for the brand, known for its cross section of French Mediterranean cuisine with Italian influences where ingredient-forward dishes are clean and void of richness. The ambiance is casual, charming and European, and decidedly upscale while still maintaining a level of comfort and approachability.

City Place Doral (8300 Northwest 36 Street, Doral) has become the epicenter of the ever-booming city of Doral. Not only are there a myriad of upscale restaurants to accommodate the whole family (regardless of cravings), but CityPlace Doral is also home to shopping and entertainment options that make the chic establishment a one-stop shop for all. I was recently invited to visit three of the newly opened restaurants – Kings Bowl, Icebox Café and Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar & Tapas. Below is a gluttonous round-up of my experience, so you can get a few ideas for your next City Place Doral visit.
In case you couldn’t tell from the oppressive heat and sweltering humidity, summer has officially arrived in Miami. We’re a week into July and our holidays have all run out until we reach Labor Day in early September. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to celebrate this month in the Miami Food Scene. We’ve got new restaurants continuing to pop up, special menus being rolled out, and foodie events galore – including a special appearance by your friends Mitch & Mel during Pinch’s National Grilling Month collabs. But more on that, and much more, below in our monthly local news round up. Enjoy!
Hey foodies – who is ready for the long weekend? We sure are! If it feels like we’re in dead of summer, it’s probably because we are. We’re getting a bit more accustomed to the unbearable heat and humidity that tourists can’t handle and slowly but surely enjoying all things that summer has to offer in South Florida. Of course that means that this weekend we will also be indulging in all Fourth of July food bonanza. That means hot dogs, burgers, beers and cocktails. Our hope is that you watch a kick-ass fireworks show and get to munch on some of your favorite summer food. Happy Fourth of July and we leave you with a few fun foodie links from around the web!

Grilled meats are the focus at Quinto La Huella (788 Brickell Plaza, Miami) and its Sunday Asado Brunch. This Uruguayan, rustic-chic hotel restaurant offers a unique fire cooking method with a wood fire parrilla centered at the heart of its kitchen, serving up a menu that is carefully planned, yet simple and approachable. The food is down-to-earth, much like the atmosphere, creating a relaxing environment where memories are made. Guests can choose to dine inside in the expansive dining lounge or outside on the charming patio, which frames spectacular views of Brickell City Centre.
