If you’re like us, planning a vacation is usually based on two important factors: where to eat and where to sleep. Once these bookends are established, the rest of the itinerary somehow seems to fall into place. So, when we were asked by Yonderbound, a new travel planning and booking tool, to take a look at their website we thought it was a great opportunity to try and bring together our love of food and travel.

Chocolate Fashion: a small pastry gem that serves breakfast and lunch daily. Whether you’re enjoying a menu of gourmet offerings or a customized cake of delectable taste, Chocolate Fashion is Coral Gables’ artisanal bakery and restaurant, which unassumingly puts everyone else to shame.
Ryan Harrison, Chef de Cuisine, Taperia Raca

It’s finally Friday and this weekend we have extra reason to celebrate. This Sunday is Father’s Day and we get to cheer on all the awesome Dads in our lives. It goes without saying that there’s no such thing as a party without food. Since Dads are the face behind the grill, and grilling is a staple of summer, this Foodie Friday is dedicated to – you guessed it – all things summer grilling. We hope you have an amazing weekend with Dad and, most of all, that you bond and indulge over food! Enjoy!
If a Missouri-headquartered chain restaurant opens in a big box shopping center in the Miami suburbs, does it make a sound? In the case of Devon Seafood + Steak, the answer is yes. After opening with a bang a year and a half ago the buzz hasn’t died down, and when we heard that the restaurant was launching a Saturday lunch service we decided the time was right to venture out of the trendy culinary confines of our regular neighborhood spots and head on down to Kendall to see what all the fuss was about.
Miami oenophiles, listen up! This Thursday Soho Beach House is hosting the first ever National Verdejo Day in conjunction with Spanish Wines of Rueda. Verdejo, which is a variety of wine grape that is grown in the indigenous Rueda region of Spain, was initially used to make Sherry-like wine but over the years evolved into a fresher style of white wine. The Verdejo wines are known for being dry and soft with great character and aroma. We’re pretty convinced Verdejo will make it to heavy rotation on our choice of refreshing summer drinks. Although the Verdejo concentration varies per wine, Rueda’s top category of wine, Rueda Superior, must contain at least 60 percent Verdejo; the very best wine is 100 percent Verdejo. Have we mentioned we like our drinks strong?
It’s safe to say, Miami is now in full blown summer mode. Long days of humid, hot weather and random 3 pm showers. We love to to complain about the rather monotonous weather, but let’s be honest, Miami treats us pretty damn good during winter; a few hot showers won’t kill anyone. We’re dreaming about indulging in summer beach days, ice-cold beer and refreshing meals. So while we brainstorm an action plan, we leave you with a few cool food links from around the web. Enjoy!
Since we’ve passed the Memorial Day mark, we feel pretty confident in saying that summer is officially in full gear. All Miami natives know that summer is almost unbearable and A/C is a definite must. So when we find refreshing treats to cool us under the summer sun, we like to spread the word. That’s the case with Robeks new smoothie menu items called Spa Inspired Creations.
I was recently invited to attend The OBIEs: A Taste of South Florida and as the burgeoning foodie that I am, I – despite the drive to Fort Lauderdale (the horrors!) – jumped at the chance to attend what I thought was another night of culinary competition amongst more than 30 South Florida restaurants and eateries. Little did I know that the event was about much more than food.
