Foodie Friday – Local Edition

Guys, it’s November! We can hardly believe that we’re fully in the throes of #HalloThanksMas, but such is life. This is a pretty intense month for us at MMTM Headquarters with Mel furiously prepping for The Latin GRAMMYs show in Las Vegas on November 17th and Mitch recovering from his brother’s wedding last weekend and heading out on the road for a few work trips as well. While we may not be around much, there’s actually so much taking place that we’ve separated out a special Thanksgiving round-up that we’ll have for you next Wednesday. In the meantime, here’s our round-up some of the best foodie events taking place this month. Enjoy!

New Restaurant Openings & Menu Additions
Tino’s is now offering an all-new tapas menu with 15 new tapas added to the menu. All carnivores can enjoy in meaty plates including the Meatballs, Sausage and Peppers, Chicken Wings, and more. If seafood is more your style, Tino’s has a delicious Shrimp Scampi, Clams, Squid Puttanesca, and Oysters Rockefeller. Even for vegetarians and vegans, Tino’s offers a selection of meat, seafood and dairy-free items including the Wild Mushrooms, Chipollini Potatoes, and Broccoli Rabe and Potatoes, just to name a few. All tapas range between $10 to $18.

Special Menus & Offerings
Pinch Kitchen has officially turned one, and to celebrate it has created a special anniversary menu available the entire month of November. The anniversary menu is a compilation of some of their most popular dishes from the past year. The anniversary menu is available for $45 per person with a minimum of two people required to order the family style menu, which includes three starters (Seasonal Soup, Salmon Croquetas, and Beef Dumplings) and one entree per person (choice of Salmon with Satueed Baby Bok Choy, Lamb Ravioli, or Petit Filet). The anniversary menu will be available Tuesday through Sunday during dinner service with an additional wine pairing available to add for $20 per person.


Burlock Coast, the celebrated Fort Lauderdale restaurant located oceanfront at The Ritz Carlton, Fort Lauderdale, is commemorating its one year anniversary by taking its dedication to freshness one step further with the launch of its own Farmer’s Market. Located inside the restaurant and launching on Saturday, November 12th at 9 AM, the market will offer a bevy of amazing, artisanal products and vendors. Festivities and music will continue with an open-to-the-public Anniversary Happy Hour at 5 PM. For those that can’t get enough of the inaugural Farmer’s Market, it will return the second Saturday of every month.


Zest just launched their new Sizzling Saturdays promotion, taking place every Saturday from 5:30-11PM.  The menu is offered for $29 per person and includes Rum Punch, Jamaican Jerk Suckling Pig, Pigeon Peas and Rice, Corn Flake Crusted Sweet Plantain, and Caribbean Cole Slaw. In addition, the restaurant also just launched their new winter lunch and dinner menus, highlights including Hearth Roasted Octopus, Braised Brussels Caesar Salad, Pumpkin Gnocchi, and the Huevos Rancheros Skillet.


The gastronomical object of desire from Alba, Italy, the white truffle, is well known for its unique aroma, taste and aphrodisiac qualities. Known for an award-winning menu of northern Italian classics incorporating the finest authentic ingredients Quattro Gastronomia Italiana has just introduced an exclusive Truffle Menu celebration of Italy’s Truffle Season. Available during lunch and dinner now through December, Quattro’s Truffle Menu features Antipasti dishes that come with two grams of Alba white truffles shaved on top, Primi and Secondi Piatti that come with three grams, and additional white truffle shavings available at market price.


Pubbelly will be launching Dim Down Tuesdays starting next week featuring $25 all-you-can-eat dumplings and $4 bao buns all night long! Menu highlights include Pork Belly, Short Rib, Baby Shiitake, Buffalo Sweetbreads, and Baja Bao Bao Buns, as well as Duck, Short Rib, Pork Belly, and Corn Soup Dumplings.

Foodie Events & Happenings
Whether you’ll be drowning your sorrows or celebrating sweet victory on Tuesday, November 8th, Vagabond Kitchen and Bar will have you covered on Election Night. Starting at 6PM, they will be hosting a Bar-B-Q & Bubbles Viewing Party with coverage displayed on two huge screens while guests dine on delicious selections of burgers, chicken wings, and pork ribs for $15 and sip on $50 bottles of Perrier-Joet.


On Wednesday, November 9th Fooq’s & Friends presents “OLLA” by guest chef Scott Linquist of COYO Taco. Guests are invited to get a first bite of Chef Scott’s newest project OLLA (pronounced oi-ya) before debuting on Miami Beach by the end of November. Inspired by the origin and soul of traditional Mexican cuisine, Chef Scott will prepare a selection of classic moles derived from the Oaxaca region. Reservations can be made from 6-9PM and each seating costs $60 per person (includes a welcome drink). A tequila cocktail and wine pairing is also available for an additional $35.


The LUCKYRICE Festival is back once again, with its 7th annual edition set to take place on Friday, November 11th at the Raleigh Hotel Pool & Oasis. This year’s Grand Feast will be hosted by Top Chef champion and James Beard Award-winning Chef Paul Qui from Miami’s own Pao by Paul Qui at the Faena. Chef Qui will share exclusive Filipino and Spanish-inspired dishes at the Asian-meets-Latino celebration alongside other top chefs and bartenders from the area. Guests will have the opportunity to sample well-known classics like kimchi and ramen in addition to innovative twists on tradition and specialty Bombay Sapphire EAST cocktails – like this year’s signature Year of the Fire Monkey Silk Journey – that will transport your senses to Asia with its exotic mix of botanicals including Thai lemongrass and Vietnamese black peppercorn.


Chef Jeremiah Bullfrog presents his 7th annual P.I.G. (Pork Is Good), an intimate daylong celebration of all things pork, taking place Saturday, November 12th from 3-7PM at 150 Northwest 21st Street in Wynwood. For just $50, guests will enjoy all-you-can-sample food from Chef Bullfrog and his cadre of 18 knife-slingers, craft beers & cocktails with spirits curated by The Liquid Projects, sounds by DJ Le Spam of Spam Allstars.


In honor of Supermensch Shep Gordon’s book launch, Top Chef star and celebrity chef, Spike Mendelsohn, alongside Miami Beach nightclub owner, David Grutman, and nightlife guru, Tommy Pooch, will host a not-to-be-missed Hawaiian luau. The Hall’s Campton Yard will be transformed into a Hawaiian oasis on Monday, November 14th from 7-10PM with chill, backyard vibes taking over the 1940s Art Deco hotel as guests engage in conversations with Gordon about his fascinating career and new book. Games including beer pong, flip cup, ping pong, and giant Jenga will be available for guests to enjoy while listening to beats by DJ Sasha Lauzon. Tickets are priced at $55 per person and include unlimited food, inclusive of a whole roasted pig and Hawaiian inspired bites by Mendelsohn, and unlimited specialty cocktails by Casamigos Tequila and TOAST Vodka at the backyard Tiki Bar. The ticket also includes a signed copy of Gordon’s book, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at the worlds of music and entertainment from a Hollywood insider. A proceed of all ticket sales will benefit artist Marcus Suarez.


Lure Fishbar will be hosting an extraordinary dinner in collaboration with beloved rustic Italian eatery, Macchialina, transporting diners to “A Night in Amalfi.” The one-of-a-kind experience will take place in Lure Fishbar’s intimate private dining room on Wednesday, November 16th at 7PM. The evening will begin with an hour long cocktail reception on Lure’s expansive outside patio, followed by a special four-course family style menu crafted by Lure’s Executive Chef John Iatrellis and James Beard Award semi-finalist Chef Mike Pirolo of Macchialina. Dinner will be accompanied by white and red wines and will end on a sweet note with a decadent dessert pairing. Price is $100 per person, seating is limited, and reservations are required.


November marks The Wynwood Yard’s one-year anniversary and to celebrate, it’s hosting a weekend-long extravaganza with live music, special food and drink surprises, giving a nod to all of the best events of The Yard this past year. The  1-year Anniversary Kick-Off Party on Thursday, November 17th celebrates this important milestone but more importantly, The Wynwood Yard is celebrating Miami in gratitude for all of the support it has received. Afterwards, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be jam-packed with stellar live musical performances, food + drink events, guided tours, garden activations, and so much more.


Toscana Divino’s series of monthly interactive cooking classes continues this month on Saturday, November 19th at 4:30PM. Executive Chef Andrea Marchesin will teach patrons how to handcraft a new Italian staple each month, with this month’s class focusing on preserving fruits and vegetables to enjoy seasonal tastes year round. Classes cost $25 per person and include a glass of wine selected by the restaurant’s sommelier, Mauro Bortignon. Making the class even more rewarding is the fact that Toscana Divino will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the No Kid Hungry Foundation.


Believe it or not #SOBEWFF2017 is right around the corner. Widely recognized as one of America’s favorite epicurean celebrations, the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival returns to EAT. DRINK. EDUCATE. from February 22 – 26, 2017.  Benefiting the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University, tickets are on sale now for more than 90 events.  The line-up for the 16th annual Festival includes an array of unique dinner experiences, signature tastings, late-night parties, seminars, and more, taking place at locations throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. To date, SOBEWFF® has raised more than $24 million for the Chaplin School at FIU.
