Foodie Friday – Local Edition

…and just like that it’s June. Summer is unofficially here, but don’t tell that to our thermometers. The good news is that with the arrival of the high temperatures comes the departure of the tourists and our town once again becomes a haven for locals. To that end, we’ve once again curated a list of some of the top new restaurants, special menus, seasonal offerings, and foodie events to try this month – catered for us lovers of heat, humidity, and all things Miami. Enjoy!

New Openings
Kuenko has joined the outstanding roster of culinary concepts at The Wynwood Yard, bringing a simple menu that celebrates and fuses Japanese simplicity and Spanish boldness. Spanish chef Ricardo Sanz, whose most well-known restaurant is the Michelin-starred Kabuki in Madrid, created and oversees the menu the menu, techniques and training. The Kuenko pop-up will be open at The Wynwood Yard on Tuesdays from 5-9 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon-9 p.m.; and weekends from noon-3 p.m. and 7 p.m.-midnight.

Special Menus & Offerings
In celebration of Novecento’s 25th Anniversary, the restaurants will be offering a 3-course lunch menu for $25 or a 2-course lunch menu for $19.91 (the first Novecento opened in 1991). A glass of house wine can be added for $5. Offer is valid through July 31st and is available at all 3 locations Miami locations: Brickell, Aventura, and Midtown.

Miami Beach’s acclaimed seafood hot spot, Lure Fishbar, is welcoming summer with the launch of Happy Hour and a limited-time pre-fixe menu. Now through July 2016, diners can enjoy a menu of delicacies from both land and sea accessibly priced three-course dinner at $55 per person. On the drinks side, imbibers can enjoy a rotating selection of refreshing cocktails throughout the summer for only $8 during the newly launched Happy Hour, available Monday through Wednesday from 6 to 8PM.

As we approach the rainy season (yes, it’s that time again), Shooters Waterfront announces a new rainy day deal appropriately named “When it Rains, We Pour.” Relying on Mother Nature as its cue, the new happy hour will offer half price select menu items and cocktails when it is actively raining outside the restaurant. Shooters will serve a Hurricane cocktail, house wines by the glass, its signature house draft (Shooters Ale) and a selection of sushi rolls and flatbreads for 50 percent off through November 30th (aka the end of Hurricane Season). Hurricanes are no joke, but if you can’t beat Florida’s inevitable 2 o’clock downpour, join it!

Miami Beach’s “fine food fast” casual eatery and wellness bar, DIRT, has debuted a new Summer menu with the warmer weather months in mind. The menu is rooted in seasonality, using many local ingredients to create light yet satisfying dishes filled with crisp refreshing flavors and vibrant colors. Featured breakfast items on the new menu include the Seasonal Breakfast x Harpke Farms, the Goat Cheese + English Pea Toast, and the Hazelnut Chia Seed Parfait. Lunch and dinner options include the Chimayo Chili Bowl and the Berkeley Beets Sandwich.

Il Mulino New York South Beach, the chic Italian hotspot located in SoFi, has launched a new daily happy hour. With summer approaching, patrons can enjoy a refreshing selection of specially priced wines, beers and cocktails including $6 Chianti, Pinot Grigio, Rosé and Prosecco; $4 Peroni, Coors Light, Grolsch, Amstel Light, and Heineken; and half off cocktails like the Something with Cucumber, In Love with Coco, and The Woman in the Red Dress. Guests can grab a seat at the beautifully designed marble bar for an after work libation and order from the new Bar Bites menu featuring Calamari Fritti, Ricotta Meatballs, Ravioli ai Porcini, Mussels, and an assorted cheese plate. All these delectable bar snacks are available for $10 each.

PB Burger is taking over Pubbelly Miami Beach every Wednesday from June 1 to July 27. Chef Jose Mendin will be bringing his touch and unique sense of flavor through a fantastic selection of 5 burgers, with one burger fixed on the menu in honor of the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project. Each week the restaurant will serve a special burger recipe, created by a series of “guest chefs” appearing in the restaurant on their special night, with $1 of all proceeds going to the Foundation. Foodie Events
The Salty Donut is hosting a National Donut Day party — tonight! Miami’s first artisanal donut shoppe is having with an exclusive release party in celebration of its partnership with LYFE Brand in the making of a limited edition t-shirt for National Donut Day. The event will take place at 150 NW 24th Street, next door to J.Wakefield Brewery from 7 PM until 10 PM. Guests are invited to enjoy savory bites and drinks from some of The Salty Donut’s loyal partners including J.Wakefield Brewery and Miami Smokers. Favorite local neighborhood bar, The Anderson, will have a pop-up bar, serving their signature cocktails throughout the event. Coral Gables Restaurant Week is back for its 9th season! Every year, Downtown Coral Gables celebrates its diverse culinary scene by hosting this three week event series, from June 6th to 26th ,where locals and tourists alike can experience over 40 restaurants in the Gables with prixe-fix menus at a discounted rate. Guests can expect only the best dishes on these exclusive menus, including a Full Rack of Lamb with Potatoes and Chimichurri at Christy’s, Hot Fried Bacon & Date Croquettes from Trust & Co., Succulent Roasted Pork Belly with Mole Blanco at Talavera Cocina Mexicana, fresh fish Catch of the Day at Angelique Euro Café, and Warm Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce from Bricktop’s. After all the Mother’s Day dining deals, it seems like there’s no love for the dads! Luckily, Pinch Kitchen has them covered with a special Father’s Day “Parillada for Two” celebration of all things dad on Sunday, June 19th. The Father’s Day parillada will be available for $55 per person, and aside from the special menu, Pinch’s regular a la carte brunch menu, daily specials, and bottomless mimosas, wine, and beer options will be available throughout Father’s Day along with some kid-friendly specials. The parillada will include Grass-Fed Argentinean Morcilla, Homemade Chorizo Español, Meyer Ranch Skirt Steak, Grass-Fed Picanha, and Ellensburg Lamb Sweet Breads. The mixed grill will be served with sides of Crushed Potatoes with Green Onions, Tomato Salad, and Pinch’s own Chimichurri Sauce. Pinch will be open its normal brunch hours on Father’s Day from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Summer at Fontainebleau Miami Beach is all about fun in the sun.
