In case you couldn’t tell from the oppressive heat and sweltering humidity, summer has officially arrived in Miami. We’re a week into July and our holidays have all run out until we reach Labor Day in early September. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to celebrate this month in the Miami Food Scene. We’ve got new restaurants continuing to pop up, special menus being rolled out, and foodie events galore – including a special appearance by your friends Mitch & Mel during Pinch’s National Grilling Month collabs. New Restaurant Openings & Menu Additions
Coral Gables is getting its very first tequila and taco bar with Plomo Tequila & Taco Bar set to open later this month. Located on Miracle Mile, near sister Atomic Group restaurants, Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar and Copper 29, Plomo will feature a modern and authentic style, edgy artwork and ambience, and, of course, a delicious menu. What can you expect? Tacos, margaritas, shots, brunch, happy hour, mariachis and more.
Italian cuisine-loving Miamians now have a home to enjoy traditional Neapolitan-style pizza with La Leggenda Pizzeria, which officially opened late last month in the heart of South Beach. Quietly tossing up authentic, light, airy, and perfectly crisped wood-fired pies from owner and Pizza World Champion, Giovanni Gagliardi (formerly of Ironside Pizza), La Leggenda Pizzeria also dishes out a wide collection of southern Italian street food, antipasti, pastas, charcuterie and cheeses, salads, and desserts, all created with skill, knowledge, passion and loads of love, using top quality imported products and local produce.
Looking to switch up your happy hour routine? Move over Wine Wednesday! Meat Market Miami Beach is launching a special Tuesday wine promotion sure to please seasoned discerning oenophiles and newbie wine lovers alike. Every Tuesday, the restaurant is offering all bottle selections from its acclaimed wine list at half price during lunch and dinner service. Whether you’re in the mood for white wine, red or rosé, this trendy steakhouse boasts an extensive selection to please every palate. The wine promo will run through summer.
Mignonette Uptown is setting sail this summer with a Cruise Ship Special, steering guests through a four-course pre-set menu available during dinner service Sunday to Thursday. Priced at $39 per person, the line-up starts with fresh Snow Crab Cocktail topped with worcestershire aioli and lemon; followed by the Caesar Salad with Parmigiano Reggiano and grilled sourdough croutons; and diner’s choice of Faroe Island Salmon or Prime Rib for the main course. Board-ering on a sugar-high, guests can choose from the wildly popular Butterscotch Heath Bar Bread Pudding topped with cayenne whipped cream or the Nutella Milkshake with candied hazelnut and chocolate streusel for a sweet finish to a meal fit for a captain’s table.
Leap over Hump Day with a splash as Villa Azur celebrates the summer season with its new seasonal weekly event, Summer Champagne Splash! Available every Wednesday from 5-8PM, the lux happy hour offers two hours of free flowing Moët & Chandon bubbles for $35 or a two hour luxury tasting of Dom Pérignon, Cristal, Ruinart and Moet Rosé for $55, both paired with complimentary canapés.

The hugely popular Hello Kitty Cafe Truckwill be returning to Miami on Saturday, July 8th at Dolphin Mall. The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is a mobile vehicle of cuteness that offers a delicious array of Hello Kitty sweets and special goodies to fans of all ages; it has been rolling up to festivals & events across the U.S. since its official debut at Hello Kitty Con in October 2014. The yummy treats on board the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will include a 3-piece Hello Kitty cookie set, a rainbow macaron box set that includes a surprise Sanrio character design, a 4-pack of mini cakes, and bow-shaped bottles of water. Glass & Vine is paying homage to Executive Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli’s South American roots by celebrating Argentina’s Día de la Independencia with an Asado on Sunday, July 9th at 5PM. Priced at $45 per person, guests can enjoy an evening of barbeque and Argentinian wines at the airy and inviting restaurant for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience. The menu crafted by Rapicavoli will feature dishes inspired by his own family traditions including his father’s recipe for preparing Grilled Short Ribs, Lamb Chorizo, Beef Sweetbreads, Pork Secreto, and Grilled Vacio. Accompaniments will include his grandfather’s favorite Watercress & Red Onion Salad and Papas Provencales. End the evening on a sweet note with Flan topped with dulce de leche for dessert.
Celebrate ExperienceSOFI (formerly South of Spice) is an exclusive culinary tour offering an all-inclusive behind the scenes taste of Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. The 2017 edition will bring together 15+ chefs, globally acclaimed artist, spirits, wines, new restaurants, and neighborhood favorites on Wednesday, July 19th. The five-block dine-around will offer guests the opportunity to enter each restaurant’s VIP area to sample, sip, mix, and mingle with the city’s most respected chefs, artists and, celebrities. Celebrate summer with good food and even better drinks #AtTheAnderson on Saturday, July 24th. The bar is collaborating with Gaucho Ranch to provide an unlimited meat tasting to complement the bar’s welcome punch and other specialty, booze-driven cocktails. Gaucho Ranch is famous for its all-natural imported meats and is bringing three of its most popular cuts for guests to try alongside The Anderson’s Chef Pepe’s delicious Chimichurri bar. The ticketed event will take place at The Shack, the bar’s caribbean-themed patio where guests will be able to soak up the sun while sipping on drinks and munching on BBQ. Tickets are $35+ and include the unlimited grub and welcome punch from 7-10PM. To add some heat to the summer, Chef Paul Qui will welcome renowned New York-based chef Daniel Burns to Faena Miami Beach for a Chef Collective experience on July 25th at 7PM at Pao by Paul Qui. As the former head of Luksus – a seasonal tasting menu restaurant known for being the first to earn a Michelin star serving only beer for pairing with its food – and current owner of tørst, a popular craft beer bar in Brooklyn, Chef Burns is sure to add a hoppy explosion of flavor to the dishes at Pao. The experience costs $95 per person, plus tax and service charges.
July is National Grilling Month and, to celebrate, Pinch Kitchen has teamed up with some media and blogger friends to feature a different style of American BBQ throughout the month. Each week, Pinch will feature a different dish developed together with some of Miami’s top influencers and media. The line-up includes: Texas BBQ with Nick Peña of Y-100 & The Food-e (Week of July 4th); Carolina BBQ with Kelly Blanco of NBC6 (Week of July 11th); Kansas City BBQ with Miami Food Pug (Week of July 18th); and Miami BBQ aka Caja China with yours truly (Week of July 25th)! The American BBQ favorites will be available during lunch, brunch, and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and prices will vary depending on the dish. To close out National Grilling Month, Pinch Kitchen will hold an American BBQ four course dinner on July 31st for $65 per person.
