#MiamiSpiceMonday – The River Oyster Bar

Happy #MiamiSpiceMonday! After taking last week off for Labor Day, we’re back to share another Miami Spice experience to help you in your decision making during these last couple weeks of Miami Spice.

This week we’re visiting The River Oyster Bar, a Miami mainstay that has proven to be a survivor amidst the current craziness that is the Brickell City Center development. Through almost three years of intensive construction, street closures, and landscape altering conditions, The River Oyster Bar has stood its ground continuing to serve loyal patrons 7-days a week, and, yes, that includes their Miami Spice menu.

#MiamiSpiceMonday – Swine Southern Table & Bar

On this edition of #MiamiSpiceMonday, we conquer the South. Soulful Southern cuisine is synonymous with comfort and indulgence. Vivid images of fried chicken and mashed potatoes come to mind. I’ve always enjoyed the splurge of eating anything fried and not having to feel apologetic about it and as so, Southern food holds a special place in my heart. This Southern menu’s scene? Swine Southern Table & Bar, a self-proclaimed “house of worship to the porcine pursuit.” The simple and uncomplicated nature of Southern cuisine makes for a great gathering of friends and family over food; Swine offers just that. Providing a laid-back and soul-healing ambience in a two-floor space in Coral Gables that has traces of fancy lighting and décor but at its core remains comfy and cool.

#MiamiSpiceMonday – Kebo

One of the best things about the Miami Spice program is that it gives diners a reason to explore some of the city’s culinary offerings that they may not choose under normal circumstances. Some people lean towards high-end restaurants that regularly seem out of reach, some go for new restaurants just joining the local food scene, some try cuisines that are out of there comfort zone, and some are intrigued by the restaurants they’ve never heard of.

#MiamiSpiceMonday – Toscana Divino

Last week we kicked off another series to celebrate Miami’s foodie Mecca: Miami Spice. Mitch took you on a #MiamiSpiceMonday tour of Downtown Bistro. The hope with this series is to highlight some of the Miami Spice menus that we’re enjoying during Miami’s most gluttonous months when the promotion takes over our growing culinary city. And, of course, that you enjoy it along the way!

#MiamiSpiceMonday – Downtown Bistro

As we all know by now, Miami Spice is a magical time in the Magic City when restaurants offer up special three-course menus at discounted prices. While some participating restaurants use the program to take risks and try out new dishes, many simply highlight what’s generally considered the best of their menu. Regardless, almost all stick to offering three courses – an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Vida Makes Lemonade

First things first; this post is not about a lemonade stand. The title is a metaphor for what happened to me the other night when I was met with a change of dinner plans that turned into a great, unexpected dining experience. So, let’s start at the beginning…

Stick an (Iron) Fork in Us, We’re Done

On paper, the Miami New Times Iron Fork Miami Spice Kick Off is one of the elite culinary events on Miami’s social calendar. It combines the opportunity to taste signature dishes from dozens of local eateries, a cooking competition that features some of our city’s top chefs, a philanthropic partnership that brings awareness to child hunger, and, best of all, offers a sneak peek at some of the finest menus to be featured during the Miami Spice program. As foodies, we’ve attended the event in the past with differing experiences and relative mixed feelings, but were looking forward to attending this year’s bash – our first as food bloggers – with an open mind and new point of view.
