Welcome to another edition of Foodie Friday – one of our favorite series, mostly because it’s the predecessor of the coveted weekend. Do you guys have any fun plans? Since the weather is now at a balmy summer temperature, we’re thinking of hitting the beach and maybe wandering to a few new restaurant digs to write about and share with you. Whatever you’re up to this weekend, make sure it involves food! Below is a round-up of some fun foodie links circling the web. Enjoy!
We finally made it! It’s the weekend and a holiday weekend at that. Sunday is Mother’s Day and we want to take a moment to wish all the amazing, brave, adventurous women who also happen to be mothers (hardest job in the world) a special shout out and virtual hug. Seriously, you all rock. Have an amazing weekend and enjoy a few food links from around the web and a list of restaurants that are having cool Mother’s Day brunches, if you’re a terrible procrastinator!
Happy May, MMTM readers! Monday is a big, big day for all people who know nothing about Mexico and too much about drinking. That’s right, it’s Cinco de Mayo. We feel pretty confident that Miami has made this a sacrilegious holiday because we peeps like to booze in the 305. That said, this Foodie Friday is dedicated to all things booze, why not? Enjoy and mentally prepare for next week!
Hope you all had a great, productive week because it’s now officially Friday and the weekend kicks off. In fact, it’s the last Friday of April and we’d give you a big spiel about how 2014 needs to slow down and take it easy, but we’ll save you the lecture. What we’ll do instead is share some of our favorite food finds from around the web and wish you a fun, indulgent weekend!
You made it – it’s Friday. Holy, Good Friday at that! This day brings all kind of food memories from Mel’s childhood, particularly a very rigid, unspoken house rule that stated thou shall not eat any type of meat, with the exception of fish, on Good Friday. Isn’t it crazy how tradition becomes embedded in our lives? To this day Mel’s Catholic upbringing is somehow engrained and she’s consumed by guilt if she craves red meat. Mitch is Jewish and has his own set of culinary holy holiday rules, and trust his by now he’s sick of eating Matzah (no leavened bread during Passover!). It’s always so interesting to hear how food plays such an integral part in culture and religion. Do you guys have any holy holiday foodie rules? If not, no worries! Below is a fun Friday link pack, because let’s be honest, food (in general) is our religion.
We’re back to regular programming around here with our weekly round up of foodie links. We took a minor break the last two weeks to team up with Visit Miami’s “It’s So MiamiTM: People & Places” campaign. Mel gave you an inside look into Wynwood, while Mitch explored “Little Coconut Gables.” If you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to share your favorite Miami spots, for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize! While you gather those details, make sure to check the fun food links below and enjoy a kick-ass weekend.
We’re still trying to recuperate from Monday’s festivities here at #MMTM. We tend to be overachievers when it comes to food and booze, and St. Patrick’s Day always gives us a false sense of Irish entitlement. With that said, we’re thinking of seriously indulging in food this weekend – you know, to even out the damage.
We leave you with a few foodie links to discover.
You made it to Friday! And the entirely good news is that this Monday won’t suck nearly as much as other past weeks because it’s Saint Patrick’s Day (a.k.a let’s all pretend we have Irish roots and drink insane amount of booze). We’re pretty much on board with all drinking holidays (responsibly, of course!) To celebrate the luck of the Irish, we’ve dedicated this week’s Foodie Friday to all things St. Patrick’s (and a few events taking place this weekend around Miami) enjoy!
