Gabriel Orta, Co-founder, Bar Lab and Broken Shaker
Gabriel Orta has been working in the food & beverage industry for over 12 years. A great passion for the art of the crafted cocktail and its potential to transform experiences brought Gabe and, business partner, Elad Zvi together in 2009 to form Bar Lab. Soon after the duo opened Broken Shaker, first as a pop-up, where they creatively adapted of some of the world’s most classic cocktails into new and exciting concoctions, becoming nothing short of a phenomena – and a permanent fixture on Miami Beach.
Now an internationally recognized management company, Gabe and Elad are now taking Bar Lab to the next level via both strategic partnerships and expansion. It was recently announced that Bar Lab would be taking its avant-garde cocktail program aboard Norwegian Cruise Line as part of the Norwegian NEXT campaign, where the dynamic duo will create handcrafted, specialty cocktails inspired by the destinations found on select Norwegian itineraries. Furthermore, the James Beard Award-nominated Broken Shaker will be storming the shores of Lake Michigan when it opens a second location in Chicago in early 2015.
