Miami Spice Monday: The Restaurant at The Raleigh

By Melanie Galarce

The restaurant at the famed Raleigh Hotel on South Beach lets you indulge in a modern American menu that’s, in part, inspired by the rich history of the hotel. Defined by its Art Deco style, the hotel feels like you’ve stepped back in time offering the nostalgia of the ’20s with a modern twist that feels cool and relevant. The Restaurant at The Raleigh (1775 Collins Ave, Miami Beach) does an excellent job at complementing the iconic vibe and lush feel of this legendary hotel.

It’s Lit at Fogo de Chao

By Santi Cardona

Fogo de Chão (836 1st St, Miami Beach) is a Brazilian restaurant that follows the traditional concept of servers bringing skewers of meat to your table until you are ready to explode (euphemistically speaking, of course). The idea is that you have a card with two sides, and you flip the card to a specific side depending on whether you want the servers to offer you more meat or not. This style of restaurant is very popular in Brazil and is known as gaucherras; they offer a buffet-esque experience where you pay one price and eat as much as you want.

Miami Spice Monday: Gili’s Beach Club

By Mitchell Nover

Gili’s Beach Club (18001 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach) is not your typical casual beachfront eatery. Serving up sophisticated Mediterranean-inspired fare like whole grilled fish, grilled lobster tail, and paella, the restaurant foregoes the the typical fried offerings that have, for some reason, become so popular on the sand. Making meals even more interactive, Gili’s features a “Lava Stone Experience” menu where guests grill their own food the table on a scorching 700-degree lava stone.

A New Taste of Talde

By Mitchell Nover

Early last year, Mel raved about her experience at Talde Miami Beach (4041 Collins Ave, Miami Beach), praising the restaurant’s wide variety of Asian-American dishes served up in an eclectic, Brooklyn-esque environment, as a “progressive fusion of Asian and American dishes that took [her] out of [her] comfort zone.” Now, about a year and a half later, I had the opportunity to get my own taste of  Talde, which recently launched a new menu featuring a heavier focus on classic Chinese-driven dishes, of course with the Dale Talde spin we’ve all become accustomed to. Despite the changes to the menu, I’m here to tell you that Mel’s take still rings true.

Miami Spice Monday: BLT Prime

By Mitchell Nover

What’s in a name? Unfortunately for BLT Prime (4400 NW 87th Ave, Doral) it means an affiliation with a certain President of the United States thanks to its location inside the &@%!# National Doral Miami hotel. Despite the name on the outside of the building, however, nothing comes between me and a good meal. So based on Mel’s recommendation from last year, I ventured into enemy territory to give it a try.
